![]() Harriet Muncaster is the author and Illustrator of the bestselling Isadora Moon and the Victoria Stitch series. This magical and fantastical series makes for the perfect gift for any child 5+! With brilliantly fun pink and black illustrations throughout the book, this series entails lots of exciting entertainment to read with your child, teaching them that being different and themselves is all that matters. Great fun to read a children's book! Lots more where this comes from, too. This fantastic paperback collection features all seven books in the best-selling fantasy fiction children’s book by Harriett Muncaster. You can be a great main character AND be girly! Who knew? And it's the vampire dad in this story who is obsessed with a skin care regime and his coiffure. I am happy to note that this aesthetic, coded as feminine, is applied to a girl with agency. Both have long hair, pink clothes, frilly clothes, large eyes with eye lashes. This main character is a girly girl, and her mother is a girly mum. Books had adventurous and intrepid boys, and if they had exciting girls, those girls were not super-'girly' (although the Die Kinder aus Bullerbü Children of Bullerby come close). Although, who knows? Such books were simply not around for me at that time. It is of a type that I probably would have eschewed when I was the target audience's age. I was proud to read that the author studied Illustration at the Cambridge School of Art where I myself taught for many years. The cover has GLITTER embedded in it.ĭrawings and text are beautifully integrated. The illustrations are line drawings with dipped-in colour in greys and pinks. ![]() It was a real pleasure to read a book with illustrations on every page. The uncredited typeface is large and pleasantly kerned. ![]() This is a book for children, aimed at a first-reading age. Not saving turtles and the beach and the ocean and the world.īut all in all, I had fun reading this one and it definitely brought me in holiday mood!Ī delightful sweet story about a half-vampire, half-fairy girl who, together with her Pink Rabbit, her friend the mermaid and the mermaid's marine unicorn Ocea, and both sets of parents, clears litter from the sea bed at their holiday resort. I just want to go back to the time when going to the beach meant going to the beach. I understand that our world needs our help and that we need to do things, but I read books for relaxation and pleasure and so many books try to put in the message to save the world that I am just getting put off from it so so much. I get that for neither of you it is something you very like, but look at your daughters. However I wasn’t a fan of how the parents kept complaining, good lord you guys won a freaking competition you could be a bit more grateful. The style is just the cutest and I love how everything is either pink or black. And then we also meet Marina again and see that she is staying nearby at an underwater hotel. I just love the location and I love reading how much fun Isadora has. ![]() She and her parents (and her sister of course) are off to a tropical location for sun and fun! Isadora is, naturally, hyped and looking forward to it.Ĭan I just tell you that I love how no one blinks an eye at vampires and fairies? I have yet to see any others who aren’t family but apparently vampires/fairies/other supernatural creatures are normal in this world and that is just the best. Isadora decides to draw something special for a contest and she wins. But that is enough for me as I can use some relaxation after this whole year, well since March. □ Just relaxing and reading and probably sleeping and hopefully swimming. Though my vacation is not as special as Isadora. I was so delighted to have a Isadora Moon who goes on vacation! I am celebrating my vacation now (this feels weird as I am writing this before my vacation :P). Isadora wins a contest and goes off to a fun trip.
